The 2019 Weekend Carbrook Classic
The Carbrook Classic was conducted on Saturday and Sunday, 20 and 21 July. A number of Vets competed in the event with some good scores posted. Notable scores achieved by Vet members on the Saturday were:
Gary Tippett – 63 nett
Jimmy Hindle – 64 nett
Congratulations to those players and the other Vets that competed in the event.
2019 Single Stroke Championships
The first round of the 2019 Single Championships was conducted on 01 August.
The round was well supported with 126 Vets competing on the day.
The current standings in the competition are:
Division 1 – Fred Ng leading with a nett 64.
Division 2 – A score of 68 nett has been posted by Bruce Bernard.
Division 3 – John Davidson is leading with a 68 nett.
Ladies – Jo Conray leading with a 72 nett.
With the competition being conducted over three rounds and the changeability of our game, there is still ample time to improve on your current standing and be in the running for the championships. The next round of the competition will be conducted on 8 August.
Albert and Logan Singles Championships Event
The first round of the three round A&LDGA Single Championships was conducted at Riverlakes Golf Course on Wednesday 24 July. The round was well supported by the Carbrook Vets and it is pleasing to note the large number of Carbrook players appearing in both the Nett and Gross leader boards. A full list of the results for round one can be found on the Vets notice board. A reminder that the best two scores for the three round event will count towards the championship, so if your round score did not live up to your expectations there is still the time and opportunity to post a good overall score.
The next round will be conducted at Meadowbrook Golf Course on Monday 26 August, 8 am shotgun start.

Vets Committee – 2019/2020
Time flies and the 2019 AGM is not all that far away. If you would like to contribute to the Vets, now is a good time for you to consider serving on the 2019/2020 Vets Committee. As you are aware all positions will become vacant at the AGM. This creates an opportunity for you to nominate for a position to provide valuable input to the committee to further shape the Carbrook Veteran Golfers. An overview of the roles associated with these positions can be found on the Carbrook Golf Club web site.
Some of the current office bearers will not be continuing in 2019/2020. One position in particular is that of Treasurer. If you have an interest in becoming involved, please consider the roles and responsibilities associated with a position and consult with current committee members to get a clearer understanding of the requirements of the position. It is the intention of current office bearers to assist with a handover, a process that is best commenced well in advance of the AGM. Please make yourself known to the position holder and/or President if you have an interest in taking up a position on the Vets Committee in 2019/2020.
