CARBROOK VETERANS GOLFERS INFORMATION
Re: Welcome to Carbrook Veterans Golf
Firstly, on behalf of the Carbrook Veterans Golfers Committee, a warm welcome to Carbrook Veteran Golfers group.
The following contains important information about how the Carbrook Vets operate and will help you maximise your Vets membership experience.
Veterans Competition Day: Vets Competition is held weekly on Thursday morning between mid-January to mid-December, except where a public holiday falls on a Thursday.
Membership Card: Financial Carbrook Veteran members are provided with a Queensland Veterans Golf Union Inc. (QVGU) membership card which enables card holders to play in vets competitions throughout Australia.
Eligibility: Both Men & Ladies required to be aged 55 years & older. Golf Link handicapping system applies.
Program of trophy events: Refer to the Carbrook Veterans and Fixtures sections in the Carbrook Fixture Book available (free) at the Pro Shop or Office. Please note that these are subject to change.
Contact: There is a committee table in front of the clubhouse, staffed by Vets Committee members every Thursday, and you are encouraged to introduce yourself and ask any questions you may have.
Captains Call: A ‘Captain’s Call’ newsletter is emailed to all financial Carbrook Vets on a regular basis and contains valuable information about upcoming events, golf etiquette tips and rule explanations etc. To receive this newsletter, you should ensure that your email address is included in your Club personal details.
Weekly Presentations: We encourage members to stay for post-game presentation of weekly prizes as this is an opportunity to hear various announcements relating to forthcoming events, rules explanations, course changes, district news, changes to competition dates, etc and most importantly provides the opportunity for social interaction with the other Vets members. Each week there is a cash ‘numbers raffle’ drawn, for which numbers can be purchased at the Committee table pre-game.
Competition Results: If you are unable to stay for the post-game presentation, the results appear on the Carbrook Website Results section, and on the Carbrook Vets Notice Board.
Don’t miss out on Collecting your Prizes: After checking in to the Pro Shop prior to each game, please check at the Committee table located outside the club house, where information on competition prizes, unclaimed raffle prizes, and unclaimed rundown balls are available. N.B. Rundown balls are kept for you for a maximum of 1 month only unless you have advised the Committee that you will be away for an extended period. If unclaimed, balls are returned to stock.
Fees: An annual Veterans membership fee applies for both men & women. This fee is subject to an annual review. This fee is initially payable to the Vets Treasurer on the day of joining and thereafter annually on 1st January each year.
Weekly comp fees: These fees are payable at the Pro Shop before tee-off and are set by the Club.
Carbrook Vets Shirts: Carbrook Vets have their own Shirts available in a choice of 2 colours and can be ordered and purchased through the Pro Shop. Prices can vary without notice and are set by the Pro Shop.
Player Bookings: Bookings can be made a fortnight ahead through the Carbrook Golf Club internet booking system, Golf Club app or through the Pro Shop. Please cancel your booking either by phone, or on-line if you are unable to play, as soon as possible. This will allow other people to make a booking or for the Pro Shop to “slot in” a player from the waitlist.
Interclub Competition: Carbrook Vets are members with the Albert and Logan District Veteran Golfers Association Inc. Two District Competitions are programmed each year. Firstly, the District Teams Event held during April, May and June, and secondly the Individual District Championships held over 3 rounds during July, August and September. This is an opportunity for you to “play for the club” as well as trying the other courses in the Albert & Logan District at low Veterans competition fees. To participate you will need to nominate. Information regarding the district competition is available from the Veterans Committee.
Veterans Notice Board: The Vets Notice Board is in the passageway between the Pro Shop and Clubhouse. Check there for various entry forms, competition results and other relevant information.
Vets Game Day Notice Board: There is a game day information board on display at the Committee Table every Thursday before play. The day event details, last minute changes to course conditions and local rules will assist you in properly preparing for the day’s play.
Carbrook Golf Fixture and Etiquette Book: Available from the Golf Club office or Pro Shop, we encourage members to read this book to gain a sound understanding of the Rules of Golf provided in the R&A Rules of Golf.
The Carbrook Vets Committee: The Carbrook Veteran Golfers is managed by a committee comprised of volunteer veteran members appointed annually by the Club Board in late November prior to the Club Annual General Meeting. The Board invites nominations for the Vets Committee in November each year.
The Current Committee Members are listed in the Carbrook Golf Fixture Book and on the Vets Notice Board.
Carbrook Vets members are encouraged to consider nominating for the Committee. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to speak with a member of the Committee.
The Committee works hard to ensure your Vets Day experience is an enjoyable one. Carbrook is known widely as the “Friendly Club”, and we endeavour to maintain this reputation.
Once again, welcome to Carbrook Veteran Golfers.
Regards,
Dave Millar
President
