General Managers Update - July 2018

July is almost gone and its been a whirlwind of a month. Its been extremely busy but we have also had some significant staff changes which has happened all at once. The team has done an amazing job in keeping up our service levels and with some new faces coming on board I look forward to a new era at the Club.

 

Changing of the Team

So earlier in the month our Bar & Functions Manager Gareth Plumridge moved on to take up an exciting new role. Gareth had been here for just over a year and we wish him well with the new position.

 

After 10 years of dedicated service to our Club it was a bit sad to say goodbye to Lynda Simonds last Wednesday. Lynda has been amazing in her role over that period and her service of the members leaves big shoes to fill. But after 35 years in administration roles Lynda has bought a coffee van and created her new business Beanzlander. We wish her well and no doubt we will see her again soon.

 

Angus Porter takes on new role with the Club

So with Lynda moving on a new role has opened up. This week we appointed Angus Porter to the newly created position of Membership & Development Officer. This role will still have a strong focus on membership, both retention and recruitment but will also involve a development focus. This means that Angus will be actively engaging with the community and delivering programs inline with the Club’s focus. Currently this is juniors and ladies but this extra resource will allow us to look at new opportunities.

In the meantime our Junior Coach - Professional Kate Dunn will helping out in the Office to get us through until Angus begins his new role. We also have a Finance Officer Gaye Jackson helping out every Thursday.

New Food and Beverage Manager starts next week

Starting on Monday we have Matthew Heaps who will take on the role of Food and Beverage Manager. He will oversee the Bar, Kitchen, Gaming and Functions for the Club. Matt comes with heaps (excuse the pun) of experience in small venues and I am very much looking forward to working with Matt. I am sure the members will warm to him over the coming weeks as you get to know him.

 

Coca-Cola Carbrook Classic

What a weekend we had and thank you to all of our 26 sponsors that helped make the Classic so special. The Friday was brilliant and then the weekend didn’t disappoint. Thank you as well to our team for helping deliver a seamless event over the 3 days. From all reports everyone had a great time even if their golf wasn’t as good as they would have liked.

 

Board confirm 2.4% increase to fees for 2018/19 year

The Board recently confirmed that the membership fees for the upcoming 12 months beginning 1 October will increase by just 2.4%. This will take our full membership to $1299.

Trainee Pro-Am on Monday looking to be a massive hit

Our Trainee Angus Porter will hold his last Trainee Pro-Am this coming Monday and he intends to go out with a bang in the last year of his Traineeship with 124 players confirmed. So it will be another massive day and thank you to the many supporters including sponsors and players who have all contributed to the success of this event.

 

Best wishes to the Trainee Professionals who will be vying for about $6,000 in prizemoney on the day which is one of their biggest purses all year.

 

Bar Renovation coming later this year

Well overdue we are well into our planning to completely gut and renovate the existing bar area. The footprint will be very similar but we will end up with a modern looking bar that will service the needs of the Club well into the future. Thanks to the Social Club, Veterans and Ladies who have all committed to helping fund this project. Expect the work to take place in November and we should be ready to unveil by early December.
