General Managers Update - January 2019
Well I hope you and your family have had a great few weeks enjoying Christmas and the New Year festivities. There has certainly been some fantastic weather to enjoy whatever outdoor activities you like and this has translated into a very busy time at the Club which has been great.
As we head into the 2019 season we are excited about what is install. The golf course is easily the best its ever been, the new 14th tee is now grassed and looking amazing and we are really well positioned for one of the Club’s best years. New members continue to flood in so that is a good sign that what we are offering is great value and thank you to the members for their positive feedback about the golf course which is really the reason that our Club is thriving.
2019 Queensland Boys and Girls Amateur
In July we are honoured to host the 2019 Queensland Boys and Girls Amateur Championship. This is a great event that saw its home at Indooroopilly for many years and more recently at Bargara so in 2019 we will get the opportunity to have the finest young golfers in the country playing at our Club. This is a 72 hole (4 day) Championship from the 2-5 July with the 1 July a practice day. The golf course will be closed during the 5 days which I know is a large sacrifice that our members will make but I also know that the many members will be keen to either volunteer or spectate during the week to watch the next Jason Day and Minjee Lee.
The country's best young golfers will come to Carbrook in July
The new 14th tee
The 14th tees are almost there and what a change from the terrible small, rounded tees we used to put up with. There has been an incredible amount of work with these two 2 tees but particularly the back tee. A huge thanks to those involved for their work which is amazing.
On Wednesday 2 January we had our final Shark Lake Challenge of 2018 and this means that our leading 30 players have been established for the Shark Shootout Final on Wednesday 30 January. That will be another great finale for the year long Fed Ex style event with Andy Stocks the number one qualifier.

Out of Bounds Local Rule - how to proceed
There has been plenty of questions around the new local rule that is now in play at Carbrook which provides an additional option if your ball is out of bounds or lost. We have created a video to guide you through the process.
We have continued to see an incredible number of members becoming part of our Club and following the amazing year in 2018 this has not stopped over the last few months. In fact we have had an incredible 75 new members since the 1st October. So we are on track for another great year and more members means a healthier, busy Club where we can improve and do more for our members.
I guess the number one reason that our members come to Carbrook is the golf course and thank you to the members for all of your positive feedback on the golf course, which has been presented beautifully over the last few months especially. That is not a coincidence and is a result of a lot of hard work from our staff and volunteers. So we hope you continue to enjoy through 2019.
That’s it from me this month. Take care and enjoy!
