Development Update - June 2019
The junior program has been incredibly successful over the past month. Currently we have 57 juniors enrolled in our Sunday MyGolf program. 18 of those juniors are female, many of whom attended our All Girls Introductory Clinic at the beginning of May and have chosen to continue their lessons with us. 25 of our MyGolf juniors are currently competing in the JGQ 9 hole and 18 hole events run by Golf Australia. This is a huge increase from the 5 juniors we had competition in these events last year.
Over the past month our Golf Development Coaches have been building a relationship with Pimpama Primary School where they have been running a Sport In Schools Beginner Program for 34 students every Monday afternoon. These students have learnt the basic fundamental skills, which will be continued next term and as their skills progress so too will their level of instruction.
A huge congratulations must go out to our Junior Pennant Team who are currently running second in the SEQDGA competition. Our team representatives are Amy Sullivan, Lilli-J Dunn, Tomas Pritchard, Cory Irvin, Jackson Jones and Bailey Castro. Each week three players have been travelling to a designated golf course to play against another junior team. Our juniors have played exceptional golf, often competing against single figure markers and club champions. There are three matches to go before the winning club is announced at the end of June.
Development Coach Todd Iffland is settling in well to Carbrook
We are proud to announce that the Club Championship at the beginning of September will also include a junior division run over two rounds. These rounds will run on the 14th and 21st of September with prizes awarded to the best gross and nett juniors.
So as you can see its an exciting time at the moment in the Development Space. Lots happening and everyone is excited to see some of the best amateurs in the country when the Queensland Boys and Girls Amateur comes to Carbrook on the 1st – 5th July.
