General Managers Update - May 2018

09/05/2018

Welcome to my latest update on what’s happening at the Club. Its been fantastic to see some absolutely beautiful weather as is usually the case at this time of year. The wet stuff has hampered our golf through the first half of the year but the course is in possibly the best shape its ever been in so that is helping, especially when you are out there fortunate enough to be playing. It’s a credit to our staff and volunteer network for all of their hard work to get the course and keep it in the condition we are enjoying.

Coca-Cola Carbrook Classic

We recently signed Coca-Cola to our Carbrook Classic as the major sponsor. It will be great to have such a big brand attached to our biggest event of the year. We are now starting to ramp up our planning for the event and whilst it’s a bit early to book in, if you are interested in being a sponsor now is the time.

Ladies Lets Golf Program for beginners

We ran our first ever Ladies Lets Golf Program on Friday 27 April which was a great success with 12 ladies joining in and learning the basics of the game in a relaxed environment. Some of these ladies have then gone on to sign up for a Level 1 program to learn a bit more about the game with our Ladies Coach Kate Dunn.

We are offering another FREE Ladies Lets Golf session on Friday 15 June. Know anyone that just wants to give golf a try – then let them know.

Tamborine Match – Sunday 3 June

Thank you to the 16 players that have put their name down to head up the mountain and take on Mt Tamborine Golf Club in our annual clash. We are very much looking forward to trying to knock up our first away win in the home and away series which is a lot of fun.

For those that haven’t played Mt Tamborine its 9 greens and 18 tees. The greens are bent grass and the course is quite undulating but very pretty. Its worth the trip.

Ossie Brown turns 90

Just a shout out to Ossie Brown, one of our most loyal members who turned 90 on the 9th May. Ossie and I share the same birthday so I guess we have always had a special bond going back many years. He still gets 18 holes in with the Vets very regularly and I can’t believe he is 90! Well he says that is what his license says anyway….

Super Course Teams Event

The first of our Super Course events kicked off a few weeks ago and it will be the first of 4 this year. On Friday 15 June we will have our first teams event of the year on the same Super Course Composite layout. The events are selling out pretty quickly with only 72 places available so if you are keen to play you will have to be quick. You can put your name on the waitlist as well if it is sold out and grab a spot automatically when someone cancels.

Membership Drive coming soon in July

Our biggest membership drive of the year is coming 1st July. We will again be offering 15 months for the price of 12. If you know someone who is interested make sure you let them know and we will reward you for your efforts in loyalty points.

Plus there will be a special draw for members who refer a member through this period – more details coming soon.

Pennant Season

Thanks to the 3 Men’s Pennant Teams who represented the Club proudly over the last few months. While we didn’t make the finals this year in any division the teams did a great job playing within the spirit of the game and doing their Club proud.

The Ladies season is now in mid-flight and they are doing a great job – keep an eye on the members portal for updates.

That’s it for May. If you haven’t been down for a few weeks the course looks amazing so do yourself a favour and book now.
